Started fresh with a nice shower in Betty's downstairs bathroom. Over a leisurely cup of tea and slice of spice bread we viewed some of Laura's photograph books. I especially enjoyed the one of portraits,
Everyone My Brother Knows in Girdwood, Alaska. (Last stop on the Alaska Highway!) Laura captured the remarkable expressions of people accepted for who they are.
[The picture below is of Betty Tanner in the dining room of her home.]

Saw some of the training equipment Spirit, Quest and Pirate use to climb on or go through - they also dive off of docks! We are so grateful for Betty's generosity - WiFi/indoor swimming pool/spa/view -- sure beats the Safeway parking lot.
Headed to Tumwater - where Vance had his first sip of beer 60 years ago! We learned that the Olympia Brewery is no longer operating, apparently for some time now. Make that decades. Also learned that, unlike Oregon, you get to pump your own gas in Washington. Costco was where Vance found his new camera - Nikon D60, 10.2 megapixel, single lens reflex. He will be expected to produce fine photos!

Saw Mt. St. Helens to our left, huge rounded volcano -since the top blew off ... Passed through Olympia, the state capitol with lovely domed building. Saw the Tacoma Dome - world largest wood-domed venue for concerts and sports. [This view of the dome was taken the next day from the glass museum.] Headed to Majestic Mobile Manor & RV Park. Glimpsed Mt. Rainier along the way, indeed very impressive and snow covered. Did you know that Bing Crosby and Gary Larson (Far Side) were born in Tacoma? Or that the latest craze is FROLF - Frisbee golf? We are having some problems with the RV water pump, something to check tomorrow. We also plan to see the house where Vance spent his first two years, the Museum of Glass and the Chihuly Bridge - made of colored glass.
Ended at Majestic Mobile Manor, Puyallup, WA 98371
